Jewellery Valuations

Rawson Brothers offer a valuation service for all jewellery and watches.

Valuations are usually for insurance purposes but we can offer valuations for items you are looking to sell, after loss valuations, or to split among family after a bereavement.

We recommend checking your insurance policy in regards to your Unspecified Jewellery limit. Usually a insurance company limits the amount they will pay out per item (usually around $1500). This means anything that is valued over this limit is usually only covered to the limit, so in the event of a loss the resulting payout is much lower than the replacement price.

We recommend having valuations on any item valued over the Unspecified Jewellery limit and items that are sentimental or unique meaning they would be difficult to replace in the event of a loss.

We can help you decide which items are worthwhile valuing, please feel free to bring in items for us to view.

All valuations are completed by a qualified Gemologist. This is not an onsite service, we use Jewellery Valuations Wellington and hand deliver the items ourselves usually Monday to Monday.

Prices: For a standard item for example an engagement ring with 1-5 main diamonds $120, rings with a diamond over 1ct or complex items the price will be $175 as it takes our valuer longer to do the valuation. There may be additional fees for re-rhodium plating White Gold and any repair work. This will all be quoted at our initial consultation.

Time frame depends on the amount of work with the valuer and how difficult the item is to value.
